About the summit
The main goal of the summit is to form a joint vision for the development of the agricultural sector in Russia and to set tasks for innovation centers in the field of AgroTech and FoodDesign for scientific and technological development and staffing of the sector. The summit is held as part of the implementation of the program of activities of the Interregional Scientific and Educational Center (SEC) of Southern Russia in the Volgograd Oblast', the Krasnodar Krai and the Rostov Oblast'

Food is now becoming a strategic and geopolitical resource. In developing countries, the population and demand for food is growing. In developed countries there is a growth of high-margin markets for organic products, food with a low ecological footprint, including alternative food sources. In this regard, the development of international cooperation, including with the BRICS countries, is becoming important.

The incorporation of new regions into Russia opens up new horizons for cooperation in science, education and industry. Since last year, 30 universities and 11 scientific organisations in the new regions have officially become part of the country's scientific and educational space. At the moment, more than 500 industrial enterprises are already operating in the Donetsk and the Lugansk People's Republics, the Kherson and the Zaporozhye Oblasts. Now it is important to create conditions for the integration of educational institutions and industrial enterprises of the new regions into the common Russian system for systematic joint socio-economic development. For this reason, there is a need to discuss the current situation and prepare a programme to adapt existing models of interaction and develop new strategies to expand cooperation and collaboration between the regions of Southern Russia and the new regions.

With the rapid development of innovative technologies, the formation of new logistics chains, and tensions in international relations, there is a need for the formation of competent personnel for agriculture and engineering. At the same time, in 2024 the deficit of personnel in the agro-industrial complex of Russia is 10%, at the same time, the share of employees under 35 years of age is only 9%. This indicates the need to create a sustainable system of training specialists capable of working effectively in the rapidly changing market conditions and introducing modern technologies in the agricultural sector. For this reason, the question is raised about the formation of strategies, within the framework of which the Southern Russia's SEC can become a competence centre, contributing to the development of human resources potential in the South of Russia and in new regions.

Climate change is bringing about significant changes in agricultural conditions around the world and posing unpredictable risks to global food security. In this challenging environment, Russia is contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. Assessing the effects of climate change impacts and agreeing on a sustainable development programme requires extensive cooperation at the international level. At the moment, the Rostov and the Volgograd Oblasts and the Krasnodar Krai are actively cooperating with Vietnam, Belarus, Egypt, China, Thailand, Turkey and Uzbekistan, as well as other countries on economic issues. Prospects of machine-building

The industry is undergoing significant changes due to technological innovations and environmental requirements - machines that run on alternative energy, such as electricity and biofue, are being created. There is rapid development of modular, multifunctional and unmanned machines, as well as robotic harvesters. As part of its national goals for the period up to 2036, Russia will have to ensure technological sovereignty and meet domestic demand for agricultural machinery. The Bank of Russia's high key interest rate of 19% per annum (as of October 2024) marks a reduction in lending opportunities for enterprises, which creates a challenge for the introduction of new technologies and the renewal of agricultural machinery fleets. As a result, there is a need to understand existing trends and develop a strategy for the systematic integration of breakthrough technologies into existing agricultural machinery systems in Russia.

Scientific trends in the food industry have been actively developing in recent years, reflecting changes in consumer preferences, technological innovation and sustainability orientation. The food industry is shifting its focus to value-added products such as functional and organic products. Another trend in the form of personalised nutrition is opening up new horizons for the food industry. In turn, aquaculture provides about 50 per cent of the world's fishery resources, while in Russia aquaculture accounts for only a small share of the total domestic fishery resources - about 7 per cent.
